Lara Hermanson is a board-certified Music Therapist and the Dimensions Manager of our memory care neighborhod. The Pillars of Prospect Park offers a truly person-centered community of care, where even with memory loss and dementia, residents can still live their lives to the fullest! As the Dimensions Manager, Lara oversees day-to-day processes and works closely with our nursing and care staff in our memory care to assure that our residents are receiving individualized, best-practice care. Activities in memory care are also personalized to the interests and values of our residents. Some examples of programming include: Interactive music therapy groups; Pet therapy; Intergenerational programming with our on-site childcare classes; Outdoor activities on our beautiful patio, including gardening; Baking and cooking groups; Exercise and movement; and Art and creativity groups. Along with collaborative care and programming, the Pillars has invested in an innovative new technology called Circadian lighting to provide the most calming home for your loved one. Researchers have found that light exposure therapy can improve sleep patterns, increase daytime alertness, and decrease evening agitation, otherwise known as ‘sundowning’ in people with dementia. Our Pillars fund will compliment us, by giving us the tools and funding needed to constantly provide the very best resources we can to both the residents and families we serve. We’d love to have you stop by and say hello to new friends that will soon become family. You may reach out to me calling 612-623-7012 or email me anytime at lherman3@fairview.org.
